Making change or challenging the status quo is often perceived as being a rebel, or being entitled. However, modernising and reforming organisations needs transformational leaders, individuals who are prepared to step up and speak out, when necessary.
Our State Branch requires someone who will actively work to ensure our organisation is relevant and sustainable, particularly in a crowded ex-service organisation community.
In the past, I have been one of those such individuals, who has not been afraid to speak out on behalf of veterans.
Some examples of my efforts to raise issues and to make a difference can be found at the following links.

Submission to Productivity Commission - Dave Petersen

I am proud to have made a written submission and was called to appear in person to Productivity Commission. As a result of my submissions to the Productivity Commission, I was included numerous times in the final report.
RSL SA/NT did not make a submission or appear before the Productivity Commission Inquiry.
This report made near identical findings to the interim findings of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
"This report sets out the Commission's findings and recommendations on a better way to support veterans. The key message of this report is that despite recent improvements to the system, the current veterans' compensation and rehabilitation system requires fundamental reform. "
